Professional activities

Dr. Monteferrante's interest in neuroscience took hold during his undergraduate days at Johns Hopkins University. During that time, he conducted research at the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institutes of Health. He went on to serve as chief resident during his diagnostic residency at Bridgeport Hospital, where he also won the hospital's Resident Research Award.

Though well-versed in all aspects of MRI, Dr. Monteferrante has particular expertise in neuro MRI and pediatric neuroradiology. A senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, his peer-reviewed publications have addressed such topics as head trauma imaging, the role of imaging in child abuse, the CT diagnosis of emphysematous gastritis and the behavior of ependymoblastoma in the nervous system.

Dr. Monteferrante is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Radiological Society of North America.
